Shepherd of the Wayward Lamb

Lyrics

Verse 1
He makes a place to rest in peaceful pastures (Ps. 23:2)
The raging waters still as they are told (Ps. 23:2, Matt. 8:26, Mark 4:39, Luke 8:24, Ps. 107:29)
His rod and staff bring comfort and protection (Ps. 23:4)
His sheep are safe inside the fold (John 10:11-16)

Chorus
Yet the Shepherd gazes toward the distant mountains
He searches for the straying ewe or ram (Matt. 18:12-13, Luke 15:4-7, I Pet. 2:25, Ezek. 34:11, Ezek. 34:16)
For the Shepherd at the calm and peaceful fountains (Ps. 23:2)
Is the Shepherd of the wayward lamb (Matt. 18:12-13, Luke 15:4-7)

Verse 2
I left the fold in search of greener pastures (Luke 15:13, Isa. 53:6)
And never found the wealth they claim to hold (Luke 15:14-16)
The Shepherd saw when I could run no farther
And carried me back to His fold (Luke 15:5)

Repeat chorus

Bridge
For the goodness and the mercy that have followed (Ps. 23:6)
Will lead us safely to the Shepherd’s home (Ps. 23:6, John 14:2-3, John 10:27-28)

Repeat chorus
