A More Certain Glory

There is a certain glory to freedom of speech. In a sinful world, it is better that truth and falsehood both spread than that truth be restricted.

But there is a more certain glory coming. In the Kingdom of Heaven, freedom of speech will end. There will be no more need to protect the spread of falsehood because there will be no more falsehood. And every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

There is a certain glory to the second amendment. In a world where tyrants exist, it is wise for an armed populace to check their power.

But there is a more certain glory coming. In the Kingdom of Heaven, Jesus will be on the throne for eternity. No more guns will be fired to oppose tyrants because there will be no more tyrants.

There is a certain glory to a three-branch government of checks and balances. In a world where sinners desire to accumulate power, it’s wise for other branches of government to check and balance one branch from accumulating too much power.

But there is a more certain glory coming. In the Kingdom of Heaven, there will be no checks and balances on Jesus’ power, because He is perfect and sinless and needs no checks and balances.

There is a certain glory to being an American.

There is a more certain glory to being a citizen of Heaven.
