Taking Every Word Captive

II Corinthians 10:3-5 states: “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (KJV).

The primary way we express our thoughts is through words, written and spoken. So if we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, this should be reflected in the words we use.

It is far too easy to use language the way those around us use language, without contemplating whether we are using language to the glory of God.
