Verse 1
You made us in Your likeness (Gen. 1:26-27, Gen. 9:6)
You opened up our eyes
You showed Your handiwork throughout
The garden and the skies (Ps. 8:3-6, Ps. 19:1)
But greater than the grandeur
Of ocean, earth, and space
You made us in Your likeness
So we could see Your face
Verse 2
Then You came in our likeness (John 1:14, Phil. 2:7, Rom. 8:3, Heb. 2:14-17)
So we could understand
Your heart to seek and save the lost (Matt. 18:11, Luke 19:10)
And keep them in Your hand (John 10:28-29)
You showed Your lovingkindness
Your mercy and Your grace (Ex. 34:6, Ps. 103:8)
When You came in our likeness
So we could see Your face (Ex. 33:20)
Bridge
So while our outward man decays (II Cor. 4:16)
Our inner man grows strong (II Cor. 4:16)
Our frailty brings us near the day (II Cor. 5:2-4)
For which our spirit longs (Rom. 8:23)
Verse 3
You raise us in Your likeness (II Cor. 3:18, I Cor. 15:49, Rom. 8:29-30, Phil. 3:21)
More like You than before
The dust of Eden cannot match (I Cor. 15:42)
The glory that’s in store
Then death is dead forever (Isa. 25:8, I Cor. 15:26, I Cor. 15:54, Rev. 21:4)
The curse has left no trace (Gen. 3:17-19, Rom. 8:21, Rev. 22:3, II Cor. 5:4)
You raise us in Your likeness (Ps. 17:15)
So we could see Your face (I Cor. 13:12, I John 3:2, Rev. 22:4)
