Verse 1
Let us love, and sing, and wonder,
Let us praise the Savior’s name! (Heb. 13:15)
He has hushed the Law’s loud thunder, (Ex. 19:16-18, Rom. 8:3-4, Heb. 12:18-21)
He has quenched mount Sinai’s flame:
He has washed us with his blood, (Rev. 1:5, Rev. 7:14)
He has brought us nigh to God. (Eph. 2:13)
Verse 2
Let us sing though fierce temptations
Threaten hard to bear us down
For the Lord, our strong salvation, (Ex. 15:2, Ps. 27:1, Ps. 38:22, Ps. 118:14)
Holds in view the conqu’rors crown: (Rev. 2:10)
He who washed us with his blood, (Rev. 1:5, Rev. 7:14, I John 1:7)
Soon will bring us home to GOD.
Verse 3
Hark! the name of JESUS, sounded
Loud, from golden harps above! (Rev. 5:8, Rev. 14:2)
LORD, we blush, and are confounded,
Faint our praises, cold our love!
Wash our souls and songs with blood, (Rev. 1:5, Rev. 7:14)
For by thee we come to GOD. (John 14:6)
Verse 4
Let us praise, and join the chorus
Of the saints, enthroned on high; (I Tim. 2:12, Rev. 20:6)
Here they trusted him before us,
Now their praises fill the sky:
“Thou hast washed us with thy blood, (Rev. 1:5, Rev. 7:14)
Thou art worthy, Lamb of GOD!” (Rev. 5:12)
