Eagerly Await

Lyrics

Verse 1
Once You set the stars in motion (Gen. 1:16)
Then You said that they were good (Gen. 1:18, Gen. 1:31)
All creation sang the glory of the King (Ps. 19:1)
Now is Heaven in commotion?
Are we nearing Your return?
Do the morning stars remember how to sing? (Job 38:7)

Chorus
We eagerly await your coming (Rom. 8:19-25, I Cor. 1:7, Phil. 3:20, Heb. 9:28, I Thess. 1:10)
Eagerly await to see (I Cor. 13:12, Rev. 22:4)
Eagerly await becoming all You’ve said we’ll be (Gal. 5:5, Phil. 3:21, I Jn. 3:2)
How much longer will You tarry? (Heb. 10:37, Rev. 22:20)
How much longer will we wait? (James 5:7-8)
In every street and cemetery (I Thess. 4:16, John 5:28-29)
We will hear the call for which we eagerly await (Rom. 8:19-25, I Cor. 1:7, Phil. 3:20, Heb. 9:28)

Verse 2
You have given us a longing
Nothing on this earth can fill (Ecc. 3:11)
Deep within our hearts we know we don’t belong (Heb. 11:13-16, Phil. 3:20, I Pet. 2:11, Heb. 13:14)
You have made us for belonging
Nothing less can satisfy
So till the day we join the morning stars in song (Job 38:7)

Repeat chorus

Bridge
All Your saints are ready to rejoice (Rev. 19:7)
How long till we hear Your voice? (John 3:29, I Thess. 4:16, John 5:28)

Repeat chorus 2x

Song Story

A few years ago, I released an album of songs from the book of Genesis, “Somewhere East of Eden.” I decided to start making lyric videos for these songs. Here’s the first one, “Eagerly Await!”

Rom. 8:19: “For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.”

Rom. 8:23: “Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.”

Phil. 3:20: “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ”
