Verse 1
Hear what God the Lord hath spoken,
O my people, faint and few;
Comfortless, afflicted, broken, (Isa. 60:15)
Fair abodes I build for you: (Isa. 54:11)
Themes of heart-felt tribulation
Shall no more perplex your ways; (Isa. 60:18, Isa. 35:10, Isa. 51:11)
You shall name your walls, Salvation, (Isa. 60:18)
And your gates shall all be praise. (Isa. 60:18)
Verse 2
There, like streams that feed the garden, (Gen. 2:10)
Pleasures, without end, shall flow; (Isa. 58:11, Ps. 46:4, Rev. 22:1-2, Ezek. 47:12)
For the LORD, your faith rewarding,
All his bounty shall bestow: (Isa. 60:5, Isa. 60:11)
Still in undisturbed possession,
Peace and righteousness shall reign; (Isa. 60:17, Isa. 32:17-18, Lev. 26:6)
Never shall you feel oppression,
Hear the voice of war again. (Isa. 60:18, Isa. 2:4, Mic. 4:3, Lev. 26:6)
Verse 3
Ye no more your suns descending, (Isa. 60:19)
Waning moons no more shall see, (Isa. 60:19)
But your griefs, for ever ending, (Isa. 60:20, Isa. 35:10, Isa. 51:11)
Find eternal noon in me:
God shall rise, and shining o’er you, (Isa. 60:1-2)
Change to day the gloom of night; (Isa. 60:19)
He, the Lord, shall be your glory, (Isa. 60:19)
God your everlasting light. (Isa. 60:19, Rev. 21:23)
