The Death of Death

Lyrics

Verse 1
Before the cross, before the tomb
They gathered in the upper room (Mark 14:15-16, Luke 22:12-14)
As they shared the cup and bread (Matt. 26:26-29, Mark 14:23-25, Luke 22:17-22, I Cor. 11:23-26)
Jesus showed what was ahead

Chorus
So we come as Jesus said
To drink the cup and break the bread (Luke 22:19, I Cor. 11:24-25)
“Jesus lives!”
With every breath
We proclaim the death of death (I Cor. 11:26, I Cor. 15:54, Rom. 6:9, Hosea 13:14, II Tim. 1:10)

Verse 2
We’re here on earth, He’s on His throne (Col. 3:1, I Pet. 3:22, Eph. 1:20)
When we partake, we’re not alone (Matt. 18:20, I Cor. 10:16)
Still He waits to drink again (Matt. 26:29, Mark 14:25, Luke 22:18)
Till He returns to dwell with men (Rev. 21:3)

Repeat chorus

Verse 3
He will come and in that hour
The sting of death will lose its power (I Cor. 15:55)
We will feast at Jesus’ side (Rev. 19:9)
And proclaim that death has died (Rev. 21:4, Rev. 20:14, I Cor. 15:26, Isa. 25:8)

Repeat chorus
